Altamura Sauvignon Blanc 2007 - $49.99

Free shipping on 3+ bottles.  "Classic 96" Points (Updated 9/26/10) "Possesses more voluptuous texture and deep complexity of creamy fruit flavors than virtually any Napa Sauvignon Blancs {not to mention most Chardonnays!} I've ever sampled thanks to two years in new French oak. It offers loads of nectarines, exotic melons, honeysuckle, grapefruit, and orange blossoms all gracefully enveloped in a full-throttle, delectable, sexy experience guaranteed to pair perfectly with a wide variety of seafood, spicy Asian cuisine or chevre for Happy Hour. A stunning experience to enjoy tonight or anytime over the next 3+ years. Classic 96 Points" The Wine Insiders NOTE: This 2007 vintage is the winery’s current release because they age this wine so long in new French oak. Initial release was last year and we quickly sold out. After begging for the past 12 months, the winery has finally shared a few cases from their library for Porthos subscribers. About Altamura Altamura Vineyards and Winery is owned and operated by Napa Valley natives Frank and Karen Altamura. The ranch where the vineyards and winery are located has been in the family since the 1850's and is situated high in the southeastern foothills above Napa Valley in a small area known as Wooden Valley. Their vines, about two thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Sangiovese and Sauvignon Blanc, were planted in the late 1960s. The grapes went to Robert Mondavi Winery for many years while Frank Altamura gained cellar experience working for such Napa Valley wineries as Sterling, Trefethen, and Caymus. In 1985, he turned full-time to his own vines.
