Duckhorn’s “Estate” Merlot is their rarest bottling from the ‘best of the best’ individual barrels this vintage. That translates to a demand that far surpasses our tiny new supply of this delectable juice available so order now before we sell out.
PORTHOS Tasting Notes ( 4/10/07): This is a magnificently BIG red wine with loads of complex, ripe, bright fruit flavors expertly woven together in a seamlessly smooth and rich experience. Lavish layers of blackberry, plum, anise, lead off then later blend into a cozy array of dried herb and bittersweet chocolate on the sensuous finish. Duckhorn’s “Estate” Merlot is their rarest bottling from the ‘best of the best’ individual barrels this vintage. This tremendous creation is guaranteed to thrill any serious red wine lover tonight but will also age into an even more remarkable experience over the next 5 – 7 years. For my taste, I believe this wine will peak around 2012. Technical Notes: The 2004 “Estate” Merlot blend contains 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon source from Duckhorn’s most renowned privately owned vineyards in the heart of Napa: Monitor Ledge, Rector Creek and Stout.
