Why?
This is the rare Reserve bottling of Etude's "regular" 2002 Napa Cabernet that Wine Spectator Scored 94 Points (see below). This bottling is only 10% of the size of that production so order now because availability is
extremely limited.
Porthos Insider Scoop:
Etude founder and winemaker Tony Soter gained fame as the original winemaker at 'cult' wineries Spottswoode and Araujo. The vineyards for this special Reserve Cabernet are in St. Helena near Spottswoode!
PORTHOS TASTING NOTES: "WOW! This wine has all the elegance of first growth Bordeaux plus all the ripe dark fruit backbone that screams Napa panache. Notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cracked walnuts rounded out by chocolate powder and suede-like tannins. Delicious + HIGHLY recommend for long term aging!" Ready to drink now (after decanting 1 hour) or hold for 10+ years.
Wine Spectator says: "A very stylish wine that's plush, rich and concentrated, offering an array of spicy currant, cedar oak, anise, herb and mineral flavors that are soothing, winning points for its polished texture and firm yet gentle tannins. 94 points J.L."
