Like Cakebread Chardonnay? You’ll LOVE the new single vineyard Chardonnay 2006 from this "Winery to Watch" that Wine Spectator rated 92+ points for the last vintage (2005 review below). We’re offering this now, BEFORE the scores come out, which inevitably drive prices up.
WINE SPECTATOR TASTING NOTES: " Superripe and exotic, with layers of rich tropical fruit and hints of apple, melon and pineapple. The fruit dovetails to hints of citrus and melon, all the while keeping it at the forefront. Drink now through 2010.92 points"
PORTHOS TASTING NOTES: “We LOVE this wine because it features dazzling layers of waffle cone, graham cracker, tropical fruit, and honeysuckle all wrapped around an elegant structure that had us begging for more. Trust us, if you’re a fan of powerful & rich California Chardonnay such as Rombauer and Cakebread you’ll swoon over this “boutique” version of that BIG wine. This wine should age well for the next 3 – 5 years, peaking around 2009 in our estimate.” Hal Oates, Porthos.com
