“CLASSIC 96+” RATING:
This brand new release flaunts gorgeous purity, with a profound offering of ripe, fleshy currant, black cherry, blackberry, anise and elegant minerality guaranteed to thrill both Napa collectors and Bordeaux afficianados. Amazingly supple and harmonious, with tannins that are pronounced (gracefully) now, boding well for long term aging over the next 5 – 7 years, peaking around 2015 in our estimate. Similar to Peter Michael’s world famous “Les Pavots”, this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2017. - The Wine Insiders

WINEMAKER BACKGROUND:
"Cult" winemaker Luc Morlet  is renowned for crafting Peter Michael's most highly rated Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Sauvignon Blanc blends. Winning our vote for the most promising up-and-coming French winemaker in Napa today, Luc Morlet remains executive wine director at Peter Michael but recently passed the day to day winemaking at Peter Michael to his brother and immediately launched his own wines featuring a personal version of Les Apres Midi Sauvignon blanc blend as well as select Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Luc Morlet family trace his roots in the wine world back to the Champagne region of France where one of his distant relatives fought in the French military and was rewarded the initial vineyards as a gift from Napoleon. The vineyards are located along the picturesque mountains of the village of Avenay (just outside Epernay, France) near some of the most famous larger production Champagne producers in the world, including Krug, Dom Perignon, and Veuve Clicquot.
