Morlet Family Vineyards Chardonnay Coup de Cour 2007 - $124.00

Fans of KISTLER and PETER MICHAEL are guaranteed to love this new, undiscovered pre-Cult recommendation!

THE WINE INSIDERS "CLASSIC 98" RATING:
This 2007 Morlet Chardonnay ranks as one of the Top 5 Chardonnays I have tasted in the past year, including more than a few Kistler, Peter Michael and Marcassin. Possessing a silky smoth texture that is so buttery you might consider spreading on Toast! This wine features the intensity and precision of a great grand cru white Burgundy {not surprising given proprietor Luc Morlet’s French heritage and experience at Peter Michael} combined with elegant tropical fruit and lemon oil characteristic of the finest Kistler or even Marcassin ‘Cult’ Chardonnays. Starting off with notes of pristine citrus, lightly buttered scones , oranges, honeysuckle, and pears are apparent, with the well balanced oak component kept in the background. It builds subtly in the mouth offering huge flavor intensity, yet managing to remain elegant as well as authoritatively rich, and intense on the finish that features a hint of lemon cream pie. Tremendously intense and powerful, yet subtle, this young Chardonnay could drink well for the next 5-7 years (if you’re more disciplined than me!), peaking in 2011 most likely. 98 Points” - Hal Oates

INSIDER SCOOP:
The “Coup de Cour” name signifies the "heart break" you'll experience when you get to the last sip of this nectar so be sure to purchase a few extra bottles!
