HISTORY: The Pierre Morlet family trace their roots in the Champagne business to one of their distant relatives who fought in the French military and was rewarded the initial vineyards as a gift from Napoleon. The vineyards are located along the picturesque mountains of the village of Avenay (just outside Epernay, France) next to the most famous larger production Champagne estates in the world: Dom Perignon, and Veuve Clicquot. Today, Pierre Morlet’s sons Nick and Luc are more renowned for their “day jobs” crafting ultra-premium boutique Chardonnay and Cabernet for world famous Peter Michael winery in Napa. Luc Morlet also produces rare boutique wines under his own Morlet Family label as well as stunning Chardonnay and Cabernet for Chateau Boswell, a Top 10 Porthos favorite undiscovered wine estate.
