“Zinfanatics, and even those who aren't, would do well to try Zins from HAYWOOD.” Wine Spectator |
 |
Simply stated, we LOVE (!!!) the delectable Haywood Zinfandel “Rocky Terrace” 2006 ($39)…and so does the Wine Spectator magazine having awarded this winery their highest rating for any Zinfandel (see below) last vintage, including all the big names such as Turley! Haywood was one of our top sellers last vintage and we’re expecting an even higher score because this is gorgeous red wine that defines elegance and out-classes any other Zin under $50. Warning: with a micro production under 400 cases and BIG scores from the Wine Spectator this wine will disappear soon….so take our word and make it disappear straight into your cellar!
TASTES: Gorgeous notes of plum, blackberry, vanilla, nutmeg and chocolate lead out on the nose. These lush notes continue onto the palate, joined by spice, toasted almond and subtle earth all wrapped in rich tannins. This is a beautifully proportioned and well balanced wine with tons of complexity. Don’t miss. LESS THAN 400 CASES PRODUCED
INSIDER SCOOP: Just when Haywood’s Sonoma Zinfandels began to get attention the winery was forced to “reorganize” and virtually fell off the radar of most wine lovers. Luckily for all of us however, Haywood has emerged stronger than ever with our #1 favorite Zinfandel discovery this season.
Wine Spectator review (2005 vintage):
Exotic and supple, showing ripe aromas of espresso, smoky rosemary and blueberry, with concentrated, layered flavors of wild berry, nutmeg and licorice. Drink now through 2012. 389 cases made. 93 points |
