TASTING NOTES:
Rombauer Vineyards’ 2007 Carneros Chardonnay is smooth, rich, and elegant, true to the Rombauer style that has become a favorite among white wine collectors. Apple, peach, and tropical fruit flavors weave together in a nice range of flavors that linger on the palate ending with a long, crisp, fruity aftertaste. The oak tones from both barrel fermentation and aging are nicely melded into the flavor and finish of the wine."

WINEMAKER COMMENTS:
“We have a particular style that we’ve developed with that
wine. I wouldn’t call it buttery per se, but it is rich. Maybe
some people might think it has buttery descriptors. We say
it’s fruit forward and that the oak is very integrated into
the wine. Probably texturally it seems buttery.”

RECOMMENDED FOOD PAIRINGS:
Shrimp tempura
Sole or Trout Almandine
Smoked Salmon Bilinis

HISTORY:
Rombauer Vineyards was founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer, and sits on a tree-covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley. Before his career in wine, Koerner spent eight years as a pilot flying in South America for Braniff Airlines until the airline ceased operations in 1972. The Rombauers then moved their family to Napa Valley and soon became fascinated with the wine industry. In 1976, Koerner and Joan became partners in Conn Creek Winery. Koerner learned the wine business first in the cellar, working hand-in-hand with the winemaker and learning all phases of winery operations. By 1980, the Rombauers had become interested in making wine under their own label; they had it custom produced in a neighbor's winery. In 1982, they sold their interest in Conn Creek and began construction of the Rombauer Vineyards winery on the property adjacent to their home.

Today, the winery features caves that extend for over a mile into the hillside. The caves provide a constant temperature and humidity, which result in optimum conditions for aging wines. Every family member is actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the winery from selecting grapes for the winemaking process and getting the wine to market.

FUN FACT:
“The Joy of Wine” is printed on every Rombauer cork. Rombauer’s emphasis on the joy of wine comes from the heritage of the Rombauer family: Koerner's ancestors made wine in the famous Reingau region in Germany and his great aunt, Irma Rombauer, wrote the internationally renowned book The Joy of Cooking. Hence, Rombauer’s focus on wine as a complement to good food and good friends.
