Fait Main Cabernet Sauvignon Tierra Roja 2022

“This new discovery from Napa's ‘flashy’ 2022 vintage is dangerously delicious (= hard to spit when judging at our panel tasting). The cashmere-like texture reminds us of favorite boutique Cabernet such as Checkerboard or Hundred Acre's Fortunate Son releases that we’ve sampled recently. Intensely satisfying hints of vibrant dark fruit (currants, plums, blackberry) combine with opulent notes of Godiva chocolate, black truffles, and holiday spices. The mind-bending finish features luxuriously creamy new oak, vanilla and espresso guaranteed to dazzle now (decanting recommended) through 2030. Bravo!” - California Wine Advisors (11/2024)
Winemaker Notes
“Tierra Roja sits on the east side of Oakville, neighbored by Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, and Rudd. Originally planted to vine in the 1920s by the Denatale family, the property came into its own under Linda Neal’s stewardship. Linda and her family ran a Napa Valley vineyard management company for many years, and she terraced the sloping hillsides and replanted with Cabernet Sauvignon in the late ‘80s. The red soils that inspired the vineyard’s name are rich in iron and rock, producing intense dark fruit with long, silky tannins.”
