Pilcrow Cabernet Sauvignon Ghost Block 2022
Details
97 Points | CWA
“The 2022 Pilcrow Cabernet Sauvignon from Ghost Block Vineyard is a profound expression of classic Napa structure and site-specific character. Aromatically meaty and sanguine, it opens with a compelling umami depth alongside blackberries, figs, and dried leather. On the palate, the wine is densely textured, the richest we’ve tasted yet for Pilcrow, carried by grainy, luxurious tannins. Despite its richness, a taut finish anchors the wine in classicism. This is a cellar-worthy Cabernet with serious pedigree. Enjoy now with decanting or anytime through 2029.” - California Wine Advisors

“The single-varietal 2022 Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon was tasted as a barrel sample, due to be bottled in July 2024. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a little swirling and shaking to wake up scents of ripe black plums, boysenberries, and blackcurrant jelly plus suggestions of clove oil, lavender oil, black peppercorns, and licorice. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut with muscular black fruits supported by very fine-grained tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and with a compelling chalkiness. This comes from an organic-certified single vineyard in Yountville.” - Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent
